Brochure, technical sheet or safety sheet?
Match the document to the exact product, understand its purpose and check its printed revision before using it.

Different files answer different questions
A brochure introduces a product or range. It may show a model table, product image and applications. A technical data sheet focuses on product characteristics and test data. A safety data sheet addresses the product’s hazard and safety information. A manual explains the operation of a particular piece of equipment.
These labels describe different document purposes. A brochure does not become a safety sheet because it describes a chemical, and a weighing-scale manual does not need to be relabelled as an SDS. Read the document’s own heading and content instead of relying on the filename or a download button.
Check product identity before the file type
Begin with the manufacturer or brand, product name, product number and any grade or variant. Compare the document identity with the product you are enquiring about. UNECE’s GHS guidance identifies matching the product identifier to the label as an important element of SDS identification.
A generic filename provides little assurance about which product it belongs to. Similarly, two differently labelled buttons leading to the same file do not establish that one is a technical sheet and the other is a safety sheet. If identity is unclear, ask for a correctly matched manufacturer document.
A combined packet can contain several document sections
The Omega 22 source reviewed for this catalogue has five pages: brochure material bearing an October 2016 date and technical pages revised on 2 January 2019. The Omega 690 file has seven pages, with technical pages revised on 20 October 2022.
They are labelled here as brochure and technical packets. Neither is presented as an SDS. A printed date belongs to the relevant source section; it is not replaced by the date the file was uploaded or shared. A recent upload can still contain an older manufacturer document.
Ask for the exact current document
When requesting a file, include the product number, grade or model and the document type you need. If you already have a file, give its printed revision and ask whether it is the current manufacturer version for the product being supplied.
- “Please confirm the current technical sheet for Omega 690 and the required grade.”
- “Please send the matching SDS for the exact Corium product and variant.”
- “Please confirm the current operating manual for the selected equipment model.”
The document library shows reviewed files and their known revisions. Missing safety or technical files are flagged on the product page. This guide is about document identification; product handling and application instructions belong to the correctly matched manufacturer documentation.
